Small Small World

As many of you know, I have clinicals on Saturday. Starting on the 27th, I started OB clinicals. But before that, I have had Med/Surg clinicals. On Sat. Sep. 20th, I spent my day caring for a very sick beautiful young woman. I knew she was very sick, and my heart ached for the family. You take care of these patients, and then most of the time, you're assigned to another floor the next week, never to even know what came of the patient you spent an entire day loving and caring for. I have thought about this patient a lot. I wondered what came of her in the last couple of weeks, how she was doing. I wondered about her family, and spent time within myself, hoping the best for them. Just today, my thoughts were drawn towards her again.

Then tonight, I get on my blog. I am extremely tired, mildly stressed out, and really do not feel like looking at blogs tonight. But, I open up one blog, and guess what I see? One of my friends is friends with the sister of the girl that I cared for. This sweet girl passed away on Saturday. I was IN SHOCK!!! I can't believe that I just happened to stumble across her tonight on the one and only blog I looked at.

Life is very interesting. I can't believe how so many people are connected. This is a bit too strange to be merely coincidental. Maybe Heather now knows that I have wondered about her, and found a way to let me know that she is doing just fine now. It is a privilege to be able to help people at a time when the veil is so thin for them, and I am honored that I played a role in that for Heather. I wish and pray for peace to be in the hearts of all of Heather's family.

Heather Lynn Krantz
Heather Lynn Krantz 1984 ~ 2008 Heather Lynn Krantz was born to Randy and Susan Krantz on May 25, 1984. She returned to our Heavenly Father on September 27, 2008 due to complications from Post Transplant Lymphoma. She attended Olympus Jr. High and Olympus High School and received her GED in 2001. Heather was an amazing young lady who survived many trials in her life from birth. She was the fifth child who received a heart transplant in 1992 at Primary Children's Medical Center. She overcame many adversities in relation to the transplant. She was the inspiration for her mother to create the Youth Transplant Kamp sponsored by the
National Kidney Foundation for children with major organ transplants. Heather had a keen sense of humor and loved to collect things from beanie babies at a young age to old record albums in her adult life. She was always on top of the newest technical gadget on the market. Heather was wise beyond her years and those who served her learned from her hardships. They often said that Heather was their favorite person. She loved her family, especially her nephew and niece Josh and Addie. She loved going to lunch and running errands with Grandmother. She will be sorely missed.Heather is survived by her parents, her grandparents, Bob and Janet Krantz, and Mickey and Jerry Quigley; her sisters Rachael (Mark) Herrscher, and Amy Krantz; her nephew and niece Josh and Addie and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her Aunt Bonnie Quigley Villalobos. The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who were instrumental in her care. Particularly Drs. Kfoury, Renlund, Fisher and IMC Heart Failure Transplant Team; Dr. Richard Frame with Utah Cancer Center; Jan and Dr. Katie Carlson at Valley Mental Health Services; Dr. Clara Michael; Beth Barrett; the Intermountain Homecare Hospice and to so many family members and friends for their tender mercies. Special love and gratitude goes to Allen, Linda, Megan and Melissa Harris for without their gift of life, we would not have had the joy of Heather for the last 16 years. It takes a village. Funeral Services will be held on Wed., October 1, 2008 at 12 noon at the Holladay 8th Ward located at 5450 S. Holladay Blvd. Friends and family may call Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Murray Memorial Mortuary located at 5850 S. 900 E. and one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment will be in Holladay Memorial Park (4900 Memory Lane (1990 E.)). Funeral Directors: Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary.

Angela... what a sad but sweet story, people are placed in our path sometimes for only a minute, how special for you....

It is coming from the district that we can't have Halloween. Many reasons, including too many parents in the building and teachers needing to know where kids are. If you think about that, it is kinda scary. Also, they say it is not teaching. However, teachers should be using the curriculum to plan activities, even if it is a holiday. Anyway, it is a bummer cause I loved it!

My daughter Rachael forwarded me a copy of your blog regarding my daughter Heather. I was very touched and wanted to thank you for your genuine caring of my daughter during this very difficult time. I remember you and am glad that I have the opportunity to tell you how grateful I am for the care you gave Heather and my family. I believe she is giving you a thumbs up and telling you she is OK. However much we will miss her, I know she is dancing and singing and laughing. She went through so much in her short life and I am relieved that she might have some peace. Once again, Thanks.
